U.S. President Donald J. Trump has signalled support for Iranians protesting against their government, saying that “Iran is looking at freedom, perhaps like never before” and that the United States stands ready to help.

In a message posted yesterday on Truth Social, Trump expressed backing for demonstrators who have taken to the streets across Iran in recent weeks. The protests, triggered by economic hardship and political grievances, have grown into some of the largest nationwide unrest in years.

Trump’s comment follows earlier remarks in which he warned Iranian authorities against using lethal force on protesters, suggesting Washington could respond “very, very hard” if violence escalates. The president did not provide details on what form U.S. assistance might take.

The unrest has drawn global attention as reports indicate heavy security crackdowns, internet blackouts and growing concern from human rights groups. Tehran has accused foreign powers of fomenting instability, while Washington’s latest message underscores its continued engagement with the situation inside Iran.
