Hackers Disrupt Live Broadcast of President Muizzu’s Island Tour
The YouTube account managed by the President’s Office was hacked on Monday, cutting off viewers as President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s island tour was being streamed live.
The breach has rendered the channel inaccessible, preventing access to its archive of videos that document speeches, events, and appearances of past and present Maldivian leaders.
While the incident has raised concerns over the security of official digital platforms, no statement has yet been released by the President’s Office on how the hack occurred or when the channel will be restored.
Other official social media accounts connected to the President’s Office appear to remain unaffected. Cyberattacks targeting government platforms have been reported in the Maldives before, but in past cases, control was eventually recovered.
