Fahmy Dismissed as STELCO MD, Samah Appointed in His Place

The government has dismissed Hussain Fahmy from his position as Managing Director of the State Electric Company (STELCO).
The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) confirmed that Ahmed Samah Rasheed, former Managing Director and CEO of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), has been appointed to replace him.
Samah was suspended from MIFCO in March over allegations of political misconduct, including misuse of company facilities and authority during the parliamentary elections. His suspension was lifted by the PCB in April, but he was formally sacked from MIFCO about a month later.
With his new appointment, Samah now takes charge of STELCO, succeeding Fahmy, who has been relieved of his duties effective Sunday.
The PCB has not disclosed the reason behind Fahmy’s dismissal.
