Maldives Condemns Israel’s Approval of 19 New West Bank Settlements
The Maldives has strongly condemned Israel’s cabinet decision to approve the construction of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, describing the move as illegal under international law and a serious threat to peace efforts.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said the decision violates international humanitarian law and undermines the prospects of a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state.
The Maldives urged the international community to take concrete action to halt settlement expansion and reaffirmed its unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and statehood.
