‘Aisha’ Documentary: Police Raid Adhadhu News Office Amid Investigation
Maldives Police Service has searched the Adhadhu News office under a court order as part of an investigation into the ‘Aisha’ documentary published by Adhadhu Online.
Police entered the office following allegations raised in the documentary, after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu publicly denied the claims and stated that relevant authorities would be asked to take action against those involved.
The documentary, released on March 28, features a former employee of the President’s Office making serious allegations against President Muizzu. These include claims of a personal relationship, alleged sexual relations within the President’s Office, financial support over a period of time, and a proposal of marriage as a second wife.
Speaking at a press conference today, President Muizzu firmly rejected all allegations presented in the documentary, calling them false. He also stated that he would seek the strongest possible legal action against all individuals involved in producing the documentary.
According to Adhadhu journalists, the court order obtained by police does not clearly specify what items are being sought from the office. However, it is believed that officers are searching for evidence related to the documentary.
As of now, Maldives Police Service has not issued an official statement regarding the operation.
The documentary has sparked widespread debate on social media. While government supporters claim it is a politically motivated attempt to damage the President’s reputation, opposition voices are calling for an independent investigation into the matter.
