India to Host 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad has officially been chosen to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, marking India’s first time hosting the event since Delhi 2010. The Commonwealth Games Federation confirmed the decision this week, praising the city’s strong infrastructure plan, government backing, and long-term vision.
The centenary edition of the Games is expected to accelerate major development projects across Ahmedabad, including new sports hubs, transport upgrades and expanded accommodation facilities. Officials say preparations will focus on efficiency, sustainability and avoiding the pitfalls seen in previous editions.
With the win, Ahmedabad positions itself as a rising global sports city, strengthening India’s wider ambitions for future mega-events.
