Israeli airstrikes have once again rocked parts of the Gaza Strip, threatening to unravel the fragile ceasefire that was brokered only weeks ago. According to Al Jazeera’s live reports, at least one Palestinian was killed and several others injured following strikes on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

The escalation comes as thousands of displaced families cautiously began returning to their homes across northern and central Gaza. Many, however, have found their neighborhoods in ruins riddled with unexploded ordnance, unstable buildings, and blocked roads. Humanitarian officials warn that the renewed strikes could spark another wave of displacement.

Aid delivery has also fallen far below expected levels. The World Food Programme (WFP) reported that food supplies entering Gaza remain “critically below target,” urging Israel to open additional border crossings to prevent further deterioration of living conditions.

Despite the declared truce, residents report continued sounds of drones and shelling in several districts. For many Gazans, the ceasefire has provided little relief beyond a temporary lull in bombardments. “We thought peace had come,” said one Nuseirat resident. “But even under a ceasefire, death is still above us.”

International observers have voiced growing concern that the ongoing military actions could collapse the ceasefire entirely. Analysts suggest that without a concrete monitoring mechanism or renewed diplomatic pressure, both sides risk sliding back into full-scale conflict.

As the situation remains tense, families returning home face a grim reality where survival now depends not only on the absence of bombs, but on the crumbling foundations of what’s left behind.
