Thilamale’ Bridge Reaches Major Milestone as Final Pillar Installed

All the pillars of the " Thilamale’ " bridge increasing the connectivity of the Greater Male’ area have been laid. The Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Mutalib mentioned that this milestone completes 60% of the total project. 

Muthalib said 263 pillars have been erected in 68 areas of road and sea. This is the most challenging phase of the entire project. 

The Thilamale’ Bridge project started in August 2021, AFCONS Infrastructure of India has been awarded the contract and 60.84 per cent of the project has been completed.

During the Presidency of Dr.Mohamed Muizzu 31% of the work has been completed. The deadline for the project completion is set to be 30th September 2026. 

The project is funded by a $500 million (Rs 7.7 billion) loan and grant from India.
