Media Control Bill Likely to Be Taken Up in Parliament’s Two Upcoming Sittings
The People’s Majlis has scheduled a sitting for Wednesday, with another session expected to follow later in the week. According to the Parliament Secretariat, preparations are already underway, with agendas to be finalised in the coming days.
A member of PNC confirmed to Viraasee that there is a strong likelihood the highly controversial Media Control Bill will be taken up during the two upcoming sittings. He noted that the discussions will focus on urgent matters requiring immediate parliamentary attention.
Special sittings of this nature are usually reserved for pressing national issues, underscoring the significance of the debates ahead. The Secretariat further confirmed that proceedings will move forward in accordance with the Speaker’s directives and members’ consensus.
