Muizzu Changes Ministries for the Third Time in Three Years
President Mohamed Muizzu tonight announced a new cabinet and a restructured set of ministries, marking the third major reorganisation of government portfolios in under three years.
The announcement comes just hours after a wave of high-level resignations, signalling a rapid and decisive reset of the administration amid mounting political pressure.
The reshuffle introduces several newcomers to the cabinet, including:
- Iruthishaam Adam, appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Geela Ali, taking over Health, Family and Welfare
- Heena Waleedh, appointed Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage
- Ali Shareef, heading Climate Change, Environment and Energy
The new cabinet includes:
- Finance and Public Enterprises – Moosa Zameer
- Homeland Security, Labour and Technology – Ali Ihusan
- Education, Higher Education and Skills Development – Dr. Ismail Shafeeu
- Economic Development, Transport and Trade – Mohamed Saeed
- Islamic Affairs and Endowments – Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed
- Tourism and Civil Aviation – Mohamed Ameen
- Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness – Abdulla Rafiu
- Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development – Dr. Abdulla Muththalib
The sweeping changes follow a damaging electoral setback for the government, which triggered internal instability and a series of resignations earlier in the day.
