Government Opens Applications for Land Plots and Flats in Malé Region
The government has opened applications for land plots and flats under its “Housing for All” policy, as part of the “Ailee Boahiyaavahikan” programme. Applications from the Malé region were opened today, with the Ministry’s online portal going live at 9:00am.
Under the programme, the government plans to allocate a total of 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats. The land plots will be issued in Rasmalé, while the flats will be allocated in Hulhumalé.
Land plots will be awarded not only to residents of Malé, but also to individuals from other islands who have been living in Malé for 15 years or more.

3,000 plots for people from other islands who have been living in Malé

500 plots reserved for individuals who were previously unable to obtain housing ownership due to family-related circumstances

1,500 plots for owners of land in congested areas of Malé where redevelopment is not feasible
Flat allocation breakdown
Flats will be distributed under several categories:

4,000 flats reserved for Malé residents

1,500 flats for individuals who are not originally from Malé but have continuously lived in the capital for 15 years or more

2,400 flats allocated under special priority categories
The programme is aimed at easing housing congestion in the capital and providing long-term housing solutions for families who have lived in Malé for extended periods.
