“Maldivians With Ceylon” Telethon Raises Over USD 782,000 in Aid for Sri Lanka

The nationwide media telethon Ceylon Aa Eku Dhivehin, organised by PSM in partnership with 37 local media outlets, concluded successfully on 1 December, raising over USD 782,300 in donations for relief efforts in Sri Lanka. 

The fundraiser, launched at 09:00 on 30 November, ran through to 14:00 on 1 December, during which time citizens, government ministries and agencies, companies, civic associations, and private donors contributed through bank transfers and donation boxes placed across Male’ City. 

Organisers said the generous response reflects the longstanding “brotherly relations” between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, a solidarity gesture in the wake of the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The funds will be directed toward relief and assistance for those impacted by the cyclone highlighting the Maldivian public’s strong commitment to regional humanitarian support.
