Final Approach: Hanimaadhoo Airport Nears Completion at 88%
In a post on “X” sharing the latest photo of the project Minister of Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Mutalib said H.DH. Hanimaadhoo International Airport development project will be completed by September this year.
The project is being implemented under the credit line of Exim Bank of India. The project has now reached 88.7% of the total project completion. The new runway is complete, 83% of the terminal is complete and 96% of the air traffic control tower, hangar and cargo building has been completed.
With the completion of the project the new terminal of Hanimaadhoo airport will be able to handle 1.3 million passengers per year and can accommodate wide body aircrafts such as A320 and Boeing 737’s. This would boost the economy and bring more tourism to the north of the Maldives.
